Citroën DS3 WRC n°7 – Nasser Al-Attiyah / Giovanni Bernacchini

Nasser Al-Attiyah, an accomplished sportsman and highly regarded ambassador of Qatar, has joined the ranks of Citroën Racing for 2012, driving a DS3 WRC for Qatar World Rally Team. His co-driver is the Italian Giovanni Bernacchini.

With a record including 42 rally wins and seven FIA Middle East Rally titles since 2003, Nasser Al-Attiyah already has a wealth of experience in rallying, added to which he has taken part in 46 World Championship rallies and won the P-WRC title in 2006.

The Qatari driver has also taken part in the Dakar Rally since 2004. After finishing tenth on his first attempt, he improved every year before eventually winning the 2011 edition.

Nasser Al-Attiyah is equally one of the best sports shooters in the world. He has already qualified four times for the Olympic Games in Skeet, finishing fourth at the Athens Games in 2004. Individual Asian Champion in 2001 and 2006 and a member of the Asia Team Champions in 2002, he is aiming to win a medal at the London 2012 Games.

Giovanni Bernacchini disputed his first seasons in the world championship with Andrea Dallavilla in 2001 and 2002. He was then co-driver for Mirco Baldacci and Alfredo de Dominicis, before teaming up with Gigi Galli. He has two podium finishes to his name, at Rally Argentina in 2006 and at Rally Sweden in 2008. Giovanni has been Nasser Al-Attiyah’s co-driver since 2009.
