Sébastien Loeb is the most-titled driver in the history of rallying. He holds the records for the highest number of world titles, number of consecutive victories, victories in a season and podiums on the trot.
Loeb has had a stunning rise to fame. He came from the Citroën nursery, and won the French Gravel Rally Championship in a Saxo Kit-Car in the 2-wheel drive category, which led to him becoming a member of the Citroën factory team at the end of 2000.
Having achieved all the goals set for him (French Rally Champion in a Xsara Kit Car and World Super 1600 Champion in a Saxo S1600), he was handed a drive in a Xsara WRC at the 2001 Rally Sanremo. In finishing as runner-up after an epic rally, he announced his arrival on the world stage.
Since then, the man from Alsace has been the driving force behind the rising fortunes of the team in WRC, with eight Manufacturers’ titles won since 2003 and nine consecutive Drivers’ titles between 2004 and 2012.
Sébastien Loeb has now set himself new goals, competing in selected World Rally Championship events this year. At the same time, he is working on other projects with Citroën Racing which would see him compete in track racing events. Indeed, Seb’s success in motorsport has not been limited to winning rallies. He has also won races regularly in other formulas and even finished as runner-up in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2006.
