The rally is over! Organizers decided to cancel the last two stages for safety reasons. Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena win their 7th Rallye Monte-Carlo. Four DS3 WRCs finish in top 5: Dani Sordo / Carlos del Barrio 3rd, Mikko Hirvonen / Jarmo Lehtinen 4th and Bryan Bouffier / Xavier Panseri 5th.
First Col du Turini pictures!
After Bryan Bouffier and Dani Sordo, Sébastien Loeb continues the Citroën stage wins series. The Rallye Monte-Carlo leader set the fastest time in the second Col de Turini pass, 4s ahead of Ogier. Mads Ostberg nearly lost 6 minutes after hitting something and Bryan Bouffier took his 5th position.
Dani Sordo set the fastest tim in SS15, 4s3 ahead of Mikko Hirvonen. The four DS3 WRCs are in this stage’s top 5, with Sébastien Loeb 4th (+14s2) and Bryan Bouffier 5th (+15s4). No change in the overall classifications, gaps are now quite high.
What a crazy stage! Winner of this rally in 2011, Bryan Bouffier put his DS3 WRC on top of this SS14 classification. The driver from Drôme was 30 seconds quickest than Mads Ostberg! “It was not the most exciting stage of my career. My pace notes were bad and I drove carefully to avoid any mistake.”
Behind Ostberg and Ogier, Sébastien Loeb is fourth with a gap of 52 seconds: “It was an horrible stage! I couldn’t go faster than 30 kph in straight lines. Otherwise the car was going off the road…”
This stage has been highlighted by many retirements, including Evgeny Novikov (Ford), Jari-Matti Latvala (VW) and Juho Hanninen (Ford). Overall classification is now Loeb, Ogier, Sordo, Hirvonen, Ostberg et Bouffier.
Put in Monaco parc fermé yesterday night, cars just had a 45-minute service. Three stages will be run in the first loop: Moulinet – La Bollène Vésubie 1 (15:11), Lantosque – Luceram 1 (15:54) and Moulinet – La Bollène Vésubie 2 (17:12).
Let’s start with our day 3 video!
