The FIA World Rally Championship continues its long series of gravel rallies in Greece. Renowned for its unforgiving route, the Acropolis Rally has over the years become a long sprint for the leading contenders. Both previous winners of the event, the Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena and Mikko Hirvonen/Jarmo Lehtinen crews will be looking to claim another victory for Citroën Total World Rally Team.
After finishing in the points in the last few rallies, the Nasser Al-Attiyah/Giovanni Bernacchini (Qatar WRT) and Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul (Citroën Junior WRT) crews head into the Acropolis Rally looking to achieve more of the same.
Versatile, high-performance and affordable are the main qualities synonymous with DS3 R3. Since its launch in 2010, Citroën’s two-wheel drive powerhouse has not stopped demonstrating its abilities. A product of Citroën Racing’s expertise, this true racing car has established itself as the benchmark in its category at European level. The hundredth DS3 R3 has just rolled out of the Versailles workshop in order to line up for the Rallye Cantabria in Spain.

Due to his Olympic Games’ commitments, Nasser Al-Attiyah will be unable to take part in Rally New Zealand, the seventh round of the World Rally Championship, which is set to be held in Auckland on 21-24 June of this year. The Qatari has chosen to entrust his Citroën DS3 WRC to the Thierry Neuville/Nicolas Gilsoul crew, who will race on behalf of the Qatar World Rally Team.
Thierry Neuville and Nasser Al-Attiyah both finished a long and difficult Rally Argentina in the points. Thierry Neuville finished fifth overall whereas Nasser Al-Attiyah ended the rally in ninth position after producing a great performance in the Power Stage.
Having led Rally Argentina since Friday lunchtime, the Citroën Total World Rally Team crews made it to the end of day three to secure an impressive one-two.
With just a tenth of a second between them at the start of day two, the Sébastien Loeb/Daniel Elena and Mikko Hirvonen/Jarmo Lehtinen crews continued to battle for the lead throughout the morning. After moving clear at the top of the overall standings, the DS3 WRCs then adopted a pace that would enable Citroën Total WRT to look forward to another one-two finish.
